Election Day – What Will Either Result Do To The U.S. Democracy? #132

Election Day

Today is Tuesday, November 6, 2018 and it’s Election Day! Here in Arizona, there are some hotly-contested seats up for grabs such as mayors, governor, and U.S. Senate. Considering the last time a Democrat won the U.S. Senate seat was in 1982, you can see long Arizona has been dominated by Republicans. Of course, they won’t fault themselves for the lack of paying educators or funding of public schools which has led to ranking in the bottom fifth.  But the Dems could redeem themselves in this time of Trump and his racist ideologies.

Hate Latinos more than others

Trump has been on the campaign trail constantly since his 2016 Presidential win over Hillary Clinton. Seriously, he hasn’t stopped campaigning. Rally after rally, he’s been lying and touting his supposed successes to adoring fans of his message of hatred of Latino immigrants, media attacks, through fourth grade-level babble. The people who attend the Trump rallies light up with enthusiasm still yelling “Lock Her Up” regarding Mrs. Clinton – showing these people still can’t over her emails.

Pied Piper and his lemmings

With drones and sheep this loud and willing to obey their leader at every turn and edging closer to a civil war as the military is called on a weeks-away caravan of asylum-seekers as they approach, what has the United States turned into? And what will happen to the country if Republicans continue on their path and win their mid-term elections? What will happen if Democrats take over? Let’s take a quick look:

The Democrats how to regain the House and the Republicans are trying to hold the Senate. The Dems need 24 seats to win the House majority. Senate races nowadays are highly contested and with the Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke battle in Texas as well as Kyrsten Sinema and Martha McSally in Arizona, it could be a tight outcome. But nothing is guaranteed.

The end result

So, what could happen? More tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, gut the Affordable Care Act, more redistricting for future elections, immigration bans, attack Dreamers and the 14th amendment, and more if Republicans win? Or if Democrats win, focus on education, healthcare for all, free college, LGBTQ rights, fighting for women, and ensuring crazy people don’t access guns so easily?

The choice in democracy is yours.
