Repeat: Why Aren’t Black People Taken Seriously As Voters? #089

It’s widely spoken in the Republican and Conservative circles regarding Black voters voting Democratic and receiving nothing for their votes. So, as Donald Trump once said “What the hell do you have to lose” by voting for him: a misogynistic, unqualified, racist, sexist, islamophobic, foreigner-hater with zero political experience? According to Black Enterprise Magazine, Black people have reached $1.2 trillion in purchasing power. It’s been widely known (especially in the most recent elections), it’s the Black vote which has voted very progressively in extremely large numbers as a group.

Yet, after (mostly, but certainly not all) White democrats have received the Black vote, they usually disappear and don’t fight for the issues once promised. This is a historic occurrence spanning 5 decades and with the Republicans outright stripping Black people of their interests such as peeling back voter rights, property rights, voter IDs, encouraging tougher laws that unfairly imprison the poor, redistricting, drug wars, and create more laws to disenfranchise the Black (and Brown) population, why do Black people have hope toward a certain party and why won’t either party take Black people seriously?  Let’s dive in!
