We Are Welcoming Our Son To The World Today! #160

When I was in my teens, I had it all planned out: I’d go to college, get a job, meet someone, and by the age of 24, I’d have my first child. Um…yeah. I can’t speak for Drea but I haven’t been 24 years old for over 22 years. So, that plan went sideways. I got to go to college but never finished. Instead of a job, I created one which I still have in operation. And I’ve met a few women, some I’ve loved, others, I thought was love but it all magnified when I met Drea. That was three and a half years ago. And finally, the things I wanted to accomplish are coming in a different order. I still have the job, have filled out forms for my transcript and have chosen a college, and of course, now, I’ll finally at 46, I’ll be a father! And Drea will be his mother!

Now, I won’t rehash the mommy or daddy blogs I have going on but today is a special day for us. After battling swollen ankles, kicks to the ribs (from the inside), bathroom breaks every 20 minutes, and growing a little human inside of her for the past nine months, Drea will enter the hospital for a scheduled Caesarian section aka Kaiserschnitt (thanks, Karin!). We didn’t struggle long considering our boy, Lorenzo, hasn’t dropped yet. Despite his due date being August 11th, the doctor can’t feel his head through the cervix and he’s already averaging 9.5 pounds. With Andrea standing at a good 5′ 2″ on a good day, it’s time to evict our boy and we have the green light to do so.

Today is a joy! Nine months in the making literally and a little more than that with considerations. That second night last November in Paris allowed us to relax, enjoy the night, be stress-free, and from it all, our little man will emerge within a couple of ours. Our biggest supporters known as Lorenzo’s Village have been supportive since the first days they’ve heard about him. And we can’t wait for him to meet them. If not for their love and support, this road would’ve been a lot harder.

So, by the time you read this, we will have been in the hospital preparing. Drea will have been prepped and if you’re late reading this, Lorenzo may have already graced us with his presence. We’re hoping and wishing for a successful delivery, a smooth and peaceful experience for Drea, and love and support from everyone who’s been a part of this.
