What is Happening?

The 19 and 20 weeks of my pregnancy have been the most unforgettable and transformational weeks. We started last Monday with our first 3-D ultrasound. We viewed every details of our beautiful and healthy child. We also found out that we are having a BOY!
Traveling with a Guest

I had a last-minute business trip to attend in Puerto Rico and had less than a week to plan. It was clear for me to fly out for this trip and I was looking forward to visiting the island for the first time. Something really interesting happened on the Tuesday after landing in the San Juan Airport. My belly suddenly increased that was before I could eat my first mofongo. I was used to sudden belly growth spurts but this increase was immediately visible.
Other sudden changes that I noticed were the lack of energy, bloated feet and changes in my breathing. Our doctor did mention that my placenta is “thick”. Having a thick placenta causes me from feeling every single move and kick in full force. It also may cause changes in my breathing. I would hear stories from mommies about feeling pressure from the baby in their rib cage. Looks like I am now a card caring member of this awesome club.
My Body is No Longer Mine
Towards the end of the 19thweek, I swear my belly grew at least 20 inches. Ok, ok I may be exaggerating but the changes were definitely visible. The maternity jeans that were too large last month suddenly fit just fine. The larger size dresses that I bought thinking it would be months until I would consider wearing them, now are a cute summer dress fitting in just the right places.

The familiar symptoms of bloating, heartburn and low energy are still around but
Halfway To The Finish Line
We are now at the 5-month mark and we have so much to plan and prepare for. Knowing we bringing a little man into the world gives me a rush of excitement and protection. I want so much for my future son. Most of all I wish for boundless health and happiness. I know his father and all the male figures in his life will be great role models of how to live a life of integrity, honor, and truth. I want him to learn about his Mexican and Black ancestors. I know they will guide him and we must open all doors of knowledge and understanding so he can receive their wisdom.
I’m off to plan, prepare and make a sandwich. Thank you to everyone that has reached out and expressed their love and excitement for the arrival of our baby boy. Stay tuned for the next update.
