Nostalgia sometimes kicks in when you hear a song and you remember a time, date, and place…or even an event. But one thing that’s lost from this generation are tv themes. Nowadays, it seems most TV shows don’t have a real theme when it comes on. In the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and some early 2000s, you’d get to turn on that tv on the hour (or half-hour) and once the theme hit,…you KNEW it was about to be a good hour! The familiarity of these songs set the mood of the show in itself and leave a lasting impression long after the show is over. Although a very entertaining show, The Blacklist is reduced to a digital sound similar to the swiping on a keyboard set to industrial sounds whereas Miami Vice had a Casio keyboard intro that led to a dramatic outro. Both great shows but only one could have a ringtone that would have people nodding and thinking of specific episodes. Let’s chat about this.
