The Women’s March is a worldwide event of women and those who support them coming together in unity to fight against tyranny, the patriarchy, and for equal rights. Phoenix’s Women’s March was no different and this year, had a focus on women running for office and becoming more active politically. The Capitol in Phoenix, AZ was packed with about 25,000 supporters, each focused on the words of speakers such as Rep. Athena Salman and Board Official Channel Powe among others as they gave fiery words of support for their sisters in the struggle under an administration not friendly toward them and almost all minority and marginalized groups.

The speeches were concluded with a march which somehow had begun about 20 minutes prior and was so large, by the time it was officially beginning, some were already ending the 2-mile journey.  The extremely energetic and peaceful march had concluded while cleanup duties began and that’s when an antagonistic pro-Trump group of about 10 came from the street waving Trump flags and draped in American flag clothing. They screamed through bullhorns at the remaining Women’s March resisters and were met with…resistance. Eventually the police kicked them off of the property where they remained immersed in a sea of resisters forcing them to take their hate speech home proving once again: Love Trumps Hate.
